Group is a drain on our society

ONCE again Readers Write, Messenger May 2, has another gripe from a typical whining over 60!

Obviously it is not enough that they already receive free nationwide bus travel, free local train travel, free travel on Metrolink, free TV licences, winter fuel payments and free prescriptions, they think everything should be free! What a drain on society this tightwad group is!

Presumably the writer of this will not claim any of these free payments when he is over 60 then. I guess he/she would be happy if we did a Soylent Green and disposed of his/her mum and dad once they reached 60. The older generation are deserving of all the free things they get and I dont begrudge them in the slightest.

The letter writer must be some sick person, and no respect for his own parents, one day they will be old but not to worry he can place them in some old folks home and he wont have to visit them,I bet his parents will be happy to see the back of there foul minded SON?

If someone really has the strength of his/her convictions to say such things then they should also insist on their name being published.

why do people in this society believe they are entitled to a free ride?
the whole idea of the welfare state is to provide help in time
of need hence the state pension it is not to provide free services just because you have lived the longest younger people these days have burdgeoning commitments mortgages children (the future tax payers) elderley people if they have been wise enough have no such commitments if you choose to be fit and healthy all well enough but it is only right that you should contribute to a service every other member of society has to pay for
